Solidarity to Kirill Serebrennikov

The members of the European theatre network mitos21, representing some of the most prestigious national and public theatre institutions in Europe, wish to express their solidarity to Kirill Serebrennikov, the proeminent Russian theatre and film director, who has been placed under house arrest by the authorities.

We believe, with all due respect, that Kirill Serebrennikov's home detention is an unjustified and unnecessary measure, which annihilates his identity as a free-thinking artist ans prevents him from publicly defending himself. We therefore urge the Russian authorities to release him immediatly and to ensure the utmost degree of transparency in the development of the case.
