LILIOM is going in circles on the fair ground’s merry-go-round, flaunting his rakish charm to all the dreamy eyed young women.  One day, he meets Julie ; and he immediately loses his job.  Liliom was going in circles, now he is going downhill fast.  He would like to caress but instead he hits.  He would like to love but instead he wounds.  It seems to be the tragic law of his existence, a law that leaves no escape.  Even suicide isn’t a way out.  Even at the pearly gates he gets turned back… « Help yourself and the heavens will help you » goes the old proverb.  But what if you don’t know how ? And what if you have the rotten luck to be your own cage ? After his LA BONNE AME DU SETCHOUAN / THE GOOD SOUL OF SICHUAN, Jean Bellorini, recently appointed head of the Théâtre Gérard Philipe, renews with the spirit of storytelling and humanist queries.  Using different colors but the same amount of generosity -  and with his unique musical, sensitive touch.
