François Mitterrand, 1916-1996, before our eyes, becomes part of History, which so fascinated him his entire life. Little by little, he moves into the distance, finally becoming a « figure ». In 1995, barely 15 years ago, he had just given up the highest of positions that he had held for 14 years. And he knew that he only had a few months to live… For this meditation on the final period of Mitterand’s life, which will play around with several details, freely borrowed from the biographies of the president, Py has dreamed up a library where a half dozen actors, playing some thirty different roles, will form a procession of visitors, like some mysterious temptation of Saint Anthony, coming to see the man who deserved every bit his nickname « the Sphinx ». He is played by Philippe Girard.
