Antony and Cleopatra are past their « salad days ». He is married to Octavian's sister; she has been Julius Caesar's companion. Even before they meet, the Roman general and the Egyptian queen know that the other will use seduction as a political weapon. And yet, in this world where only ambition and power seem to matter, love will arise between them and make them share a common utopia: that of a world where the Tiber and the Nile would finally mix their waters. With Bérénice, Célie Pauthe staged Racine’s vision of the same dream (Berthier, 2018). To offer its Shakespearean version, she once again calls on Mélodie Richard and Mounir Margoum.
