Throughout the season, De quelle putain d’histoire du théâtre parle-t-on?*, a series of 8 meetings, will bring together artists, historians and performing arts researchers. These encounters will question the history of theatre, explore its margins and highlight its lesser-known areas.
An opportunity to (re)discover certain forgotten or little-studied aspects, but also to collectively rethink the way in which such a history is written.
For this first séance, Raphaëlle Doyon and Anne-Lise Michaud – researchers in théâtral studies – will analyze the modalities and mechanisms of a history of theatre built around heritage, often at the expense of matrimoine. They will examine the making of this theatrical heritage, which differs according to the artists' gender: what role do the conditions of creation, archiving in private and then heritage collections, and presentation play? They will also present ways to begin building and transmitting a theatrical heritage, as well as a mixed history of twentieth-century theatre.
