A tribute to Corneille, of course, but also to the Molière of "L'Impromptu de Versailles" or the "Fâcheux", these Comic Illusions was acclaimed by both the critics and the public as one of the most resounding and beautiful performances of the last season. It was also one of the most honest forays into the world of comedy that the new director of the Théâtre de l'Europe succeeded in staging. But if Olivier Py has decided to open the new season with his Comic Illusions again, it is above all because it is surely the best way to offer our audience at the Odéon, in the most simple, direct and vivid terms, his vision of the stage. What would happen, the author asks, if « the entire world, politicians, prelates, the merchants of style », were « suddenly overtaken by an uncontrollable love of theater ? » Olivier Py, on stage himself in order to play the role of the poet « Myself », will be flanked by Michel Fau (in a role that won him the Syndicat de la Critique's best stage actor prize), as well as his « theater comrades » who have been accompanying him ever since the beginning of his career. They are all ready once again, to celebrate the pomp and splendor of theater, in its plethora of facets...
