Les Cenci

"A beautifully sombre masterpiece is the only heritage worth leaving behind... As for me, the old Count Cenci, I've identified myself with destiny more than once in dreams." Such is the impossible project Barristelli sets to music, as he electronically filters, distorts and reworks his actors' voices. Lavaudant and Battistelli have known each other for ten years. Their third project, using a libretto that the composer bases on Antonin Artaud's work, once again falls in this domain of "actors' opera" or "teatro in musica" of which Battistelli is a contemporary master.
