Julie Deliquet is one of the rising young female director who appeared in the last years in France. By adapting the script of the film by Arnaud Desplechin, she paints a French and contemporary portrait of family drama, following Noce from Brecht, Vania from Chekhov and Fanny and Alexander from Bergman (At the Comedie Française last season) all noteworthy. When three Vuillard generations meet in Roubaix, northern France, for Christmas, the party might turn out unexpected… For Arnaud Desplechin, family is much more than a theme: a topic of its own, both a wide array of peculiar characters as well as a collection outnumbering the sum of its entities.
