In 1967, Madeleine Renaud and Jean-Louis Barrault converted one of the theatre's foyers into a performance space. It was renamed the ‘Petit Odéon’. This small quarter within the big theatre became a place devoted to contemporary work and new writing. Once again, it fulfils this role in order to welcome Marie-José Malis. The director will take over the space for three months to present Pièces élémentaires. The aim is to revive the tradition of studio theatre by transforming the space into a place of experimentation, a laboratory in the service of theatre.
