Spanish artist Angélica Liddell realised while reading a text that she makes theatre like the bullfighter Juan Belmonte fought bulls: that is, driven by a yearning for life and therefore a yearning for death. Liebestod (literally: "love death") is a provocative performance in which radiant imagery shares the stage with highly charged language. In a red and gold arena, Angélica Liddell excites a bull. A colossal man stands still with several cats on leashes. A carcass descends from the sky... A deeply moving and cathartic experience.
