"Each day is precious, for we are yet breathing, in order to take note, to create a system of notes, moved by the way light falls on a branch, or one’s work table, or the headstone of a beloved poet."
A book of days, Patti Smith
To mark the publication in France of Un livre de jours by Gallimard, Patti Smith is taking to the stage at the Odéon for an original literary performance. Drawing on the 366 photographs that illustrate her new book, the artist will evoke her inspirations and icons, as well as the works, artists, objects and places that are dear to her heart. Her poetic and tender visuals, played out on stage, will punctuate this nostalgic ballad, which promises a playful and aesthetic plunge into the fascinating world of a cult artist who will be revealing herself in all her uniqueness. It will also be an opportunity for Patti Smith to celebrate life, and all the little joys it brings with each passing day.
The literary journey through Patti Smith's world will include musical interludes.
Signed copies of Patti Smith's A book of days and Une saison en enfer will be on sale exclusively in the theatre foyer before and after the performance.
