After his first invitation to the Odéon, Vassiliev continues his incessant research of dramatic forms and the paroxysms of theatrical engagement by this time using one of the most curious texts of the 18th century - Thérèse Philosophe. Published in 1748, this anonymous text was appreciated by the Marquis de Sade, who considered this "charming work" to be "the only text to show the goal..., the only text to pleasantly link luxury and impiety." But the real originality of this work is less its glorification of nature and pleasure than the importance it grants to the expression of female desire. Thérèse composes her memoirs in her own name, her own voice, and with a sensuality that is no longer subject to masculine pleasure.
