with Thomas Arnold, Johannes Flaschberger, Amanda Hadingue, Kathryn Hunter, Kiren Kebaili-Dwyer, Weronika Maria, Tim McMullan, César Sarachu, Sophie Steer, Alexander Uzoka

It is with regret that Kathryn Hunter, due to a bereavement, has to relinquish her role for all the Paris performances. Amanda Hadingue has taken over the lead role of Janina Duszejko, while Tamzin Griffin has taken over Amanda's previous roles.

In a mountainous region of Poland, Janina Doucheyko finds a neighbour dead, a small deer bone stuck through his throat. Soon after, people begin to disappear. The police investigate these as normal crimes, but Janina is convinced that animals are seeking revenge on humans. In this adaptation for the stage, Simon McBurney takes an eco-feminist detective novel by Polish author Olga Tokarczuk (winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature) and explores with humour and simplicity what connects living beings. On stage, the actor’s rhythmic teamwork complements the director’s innovative work on new technologies. After The Encounter in 2018, the Complicité company comes back to the Odéon.
