Following on from 20 pierres, presented last season at the Odéon, Laura Vazquez writes as one digs—excavating the evil buried beneath words, that geological, archaic evil that would rise to the surface and emerge from us like a terrible growth. Alone on stage, she offers a performance reading that holds together through language.

Five dates

1990 I speak to God; I compose little prayers in my head and write them down with my own hands.

1992 I discover that the person raising me cannot read or write. I have a power that is too great for me.

1999 I turn away from God; I write poems, songs and stories.

2005 First episodes of depersonalisation, panic attacks, borderline states, serious problems for which there is no cure. Books and texts are of no help.

2017 My first novel, La semaine perpétuelle, teaches me regularity, humility and service. I am changing.
